Papua New Guinea guided tour

A walk through Alotau Market, Milne Bay

Alotau Market is open 6 days per week, Monday to Saturday. It starts around 8:00am and finishes about 5:00pm. Times vary a bit though, remember, by the time you get out here you should be operating on 'Island time'.

Alotau Market, Milne Bay.

The market sells just about everything a villager might need in the way of food. There are no cheap chinese toys, electronic games, sunglasses and watches here. Only what you can eat. Because of this and because of the lack of available refrigeration, you'll only find fresh food including a wide variety of exotic seafoods and vegetables. It is rare to find any red meats here as beef is not farmed locally, nor goats or sheep. Occasionally you might find cooked chicken or Cus Cus (A kind of tree dwelling possum).
