Milne Bay is absolutely alive with fish. In this video, we were simply moving from one island to another and trolling lines as we went. Just as we approached Nuakata Island, we caught 2 nice Trevally. Needless to say, they both were cooked for that nights dinner.
The previous day, in 50 minutes of trolling along a reef edge fishing, we caught 5 Tuna and 5 Rainbow runner. Both excellent eating. We enjoyed one of the tuna cooked fresh on the fire immediately and took the remaining fish back with us. The locals joined us for dinner and we had a great night !
Fishing here is VERY hard on tackle and you need big lines and big gear if you're going to hang on to those big hits you get on a daily basis. It's common to land 2m Wahoo, Spanish Mackeral, Large Tuna and even larger gamefish like Marlin.
Reef fishing (Bottom bouncing) always returns a mixed bag of fish.
